SK pharmteco’s Texas facility is a testament to the company’s long-term commitment to innovation and sustainability. This state-of-the-art facility, operational for over two decades, is equipped to handle complex pharmaceutical manufacturing processes. This semi-automated manufacturing facility, centrally and conveniently located in La Porte, Texas (near Houston) supports our stable and secure US-based manufacturing. It has over 91 m³ (24,100 US gal) of capacity for small- and large-scale CGMP manufacturing and access to large-scale US deep-water shipping ports, and Houston has one of the largest manufacturing workforces in the country.
Known for our energetic and hazardous chemistry expertise, we safely handle reactions involving phosgene, cyanide, azides, nitration, POCl₃, hydrogenation, alkylation, hydride reduction, Grignard, and chlorination.
Vertical Design, Small Footprint
One of the Texas facility’s key features is its vertical design, which maximizes efficiency and minimizes environmental impact. By utilizing its gravity-fed processes, the facility reduces energy consumption and operational costs. Additionally, integrating advanced technologies, such as the recently installed flameless thermal oxidizer (FTO), has significantly improved air quality and reduced greenhouse gas emissions.
The FTO is an environmental technology industrial device that safely destroys organic gases like VOCs and hazardous waste emissions without open flame, converting them into harmless substances, such as steam. This innovative approach further enhances the facility’s sustainability profile and reduces reliance on traditional energy sources. The Flameless Thermal Oxidizer system can achieve extremely high destruction removal efficiencies while virtually eliminating thermal NOx emissions. The fume stream undergoes multiple seconds of residence time at high temperatures to achieve extremely high conversion. We can sufficiently oxidize the fume and natural gas stream without a flame front by operating the system below the gas mixture’s lower explosive limit (LEL). This type of operation leads to a lower-temperature treatment environment that produces extremely low NOx emissions. The FTO has a destruction/removal efficiency of 99.999%, meaning it will destroy 99.999% of VOCs in the waste gasses sent to the FTO.
Beyond its technological advancements, the La Porte facility is also dedicated to employee safety and well-being. The facility’s compact design fosters a strong sense of community among employees, promoting collaboration, retention, and knowledge sharing. The company’s commitment to environmental responsibility extends to the broader community, as evidenced by its efforts to minimize waste, conserve water, and reduce energy consumption.
By embracing innovation, prioritizing sustainability, and fostering a strong company culture, SK pharmteco’s La Porte, TX facility continues to be a driving force in the pharmaceutical industry, both regionally and worldwide.
